Though Netflix’s The Witcher has majorly focused on the bond between Geralt and Ciri, there are characters who took a forever place in fans’ hearts. One of them was Jaskier, the Bard, who wanders around the Continent chanting songs of the historic moments that took place in front of his eyes. Fans of the series admired his personality for the way he filled every room with a distinctive light of excitement and fun. Not to forget his witty remarks often entertained Ciri, Geralt, and Yennefer in the most gloomy times.

In the last five years, there was not a single soul who did not love this character, but it seems season 3 changed that. This is so as one of the special cast members of the third installment despised Jaskier.

The Witcher star Joey Batey did not get along with one cast member

In August, Joey Batey sat down with BBC Radio 1 along with Anya Chalotra and Freya Allan to talk about The Witcher. During the interview, the host asked him how many animals he had in season 3. To this, he revealed there was a cat who had an obstinately uncooperative attitude. The actor recalled episode 2 when Jaskier and Geralt visited the detective agency to learn about Rience.

In that scene, the bard held their cat while the mutant talked to them and not long after that she jumped out of his hands. The musician was meant to hold her close, but things did not work out much. “She refused to stay in my arms and I was scratched absolutely by the end,” added Batey. It seems the charms of this beloved character did not work on this furry ball, and she wanted to stay away from him.

This incident might come as a surprise to fans who have been swooning over him since season 1. Meanwhile, besides this, the 34-year-old also spilled the major difference between his original self and the personality he plays on screen.

Jaskier and Batey have nothing in common

In the same interview, the host asked if Joey Batey talks to himself when he does not have a scene because the character loves talking. In his response, the English actor said he spent most of his time quietly. He even admitted that he was a boring person and did not like talking or throwing funny remarks. But his real-life qualities have not gone in vain and helped him much in building his character.

The actor revealed he composed a song while sitting in the trailer for the third season. Or one can say that his calm nature has always helped him bring out the best version of Jaskier all these years. However, with the show diving deeper into this saga, the bard has changed much with all the experiences.
