The film came out in the year 2010 and was directed by John Carpenter, who is famous for his horror and sci-fi genre films. Sweeney landed the role with a megastar like Heard and got to work under one of the greatest horror genre directors of all time.

The Spokane native was barely thirteen years old when she got the chance to star in this horror thriller. However, The Ward was neither the actress’s first project nor her first time working in a horror film. She starred in a film called ZMD: Zombies of Mass Destruction a year before the Carpenter directorial came out. The Ward was a story of a woman, Kristen, who was utterly disturbed and burned down a property before being sent to a psychiatric facility. She encountered several female patients in the facility whom a ghost named Alice was tormenting. Apparently, Kristen tried her best to help the women escape. The film further took quite a turn, revealing a major truth about Kristen, hence ending things for good.

The rest of the cast of the film included Mamie Gummer, Laura Leigh, Danielle Panabaker, and Lyndsy Fonseca. The Sharp Objects actress worked on major TV shows such as Criminal Minds and Heroes before landing this film. Though The Ward did not do well, the Euphoria actress made her way to the big screen.

Sydney Sweeney then worked in Grey’s Anatomy and Pretty Little Liars and films like The Opium Eater before she landed her first major role in Netflix’s Everything Sucks! In short, from doing extremely short roles to landing two Primetime Emmy nominations, the actress came a long way.
