The animosity between the two royal sisters-in-law, Meghan Markle and Kate Middleton, has been evident since the very beginning. The Duchess of Sussex and Princess of Wales are often pitted against each other in all the departments, be it fashion, public appearances, their way of speaking, or carrying out themselves in the public. Markle has often found herself at the receiving end of trolling and criticism for wearing similar outfits as Middleton.

It was just a few days back that a post went viral that stated that Markle’s wedding gown for her first marriage with Trevor Engelson was highly inspired by Kate Middleton’s reception dress. However, this time around, it is the Princess of Wales who has come under scrutiny. Recently, she was seen in the United Kingdom for an official engagement in Scarborough while wearing a beige long coat. The dress looked familiar to many people as they pointed out that this was something that Meghan Markle wore two years back. 

Style expert Miranda Holder draws a comparison between Meghan Markle and Kate Middleton’s outfits

It was in 2020 that Meghan Markle was spotted wearing a camel coat while visiting Canada House in London with Prince Harry. The resemblance between Markle and Middleton’s outfits is hard to miss. While the royal watchers have blamed the next-in-line Queen Consort for copying the former American actress, the style expert Miranda Holder has defended the former. Holder stated that although camel coats are one of the signature looks of Meghan Markle, Kate Middleton has also worn them time and again. 

“It’s very true that the camel coat is one of Meghan’s wardrobe heroes. She has a whole collection of them which she uses to add polish to every outfit. However, Kate was not copying Meghan, because, in true Princess Catherine style, she has worn the same beautiful coat on many occasions,” the style expert said in a TikTok video. 

Further clarifying the difference between the two Duchesses, Holder added that Markle went for a tonal look two years back while Middleton made it an elegant monochrome attire. Though the style expert was all praises for Princess Catherine, she loved the Suits alum’s outfit more as it looked very chic and expensive.
