For the last 6 years, The Crown was building up the royal family’s story up to Princess Diana’s death. Now, after Elizabeth Debicki portrayed the tragic tale in the first volume of the sixth season, the actress seems to have caught the eye of the acting world. With the Golden Globe nominations out, it is revealed that the star has been put up for one of her own.

While she starred in the wondrous Great Gatsby back in 2013 and more, this was her first time being nominated for the esteemed award.  

Elizabeth Debicki’s Diana gets nominated for a Golden Globe

After an emotional performance in the first part of the show’s sixth and final season, Debicki’s talents were finally heeded to. The actress is put up for the Best Supporting Female Actress in a television series. The news does not come as a shock as fans were expecting that the star would be nominated for her performance.

While her nomination was a celebration in itself, she was accompanied by quite a few well-known names. On the top of that list was Meryl Streep for her role in Selena Gomez and Steve Martin’s Only Murders In The Building. Apart from her, J. Smith Cameron from Succession and even Ted Lasso’s Hannah Waddingham were nominated for the same award. 

Although Debicki might be up against the big wigs in her upcoming award show battle, fans and the rest of the show’s cast are certain that her performance as the late Princess Diana will be enough to see her win.

Shortly after the first part of The Crown’s final season came out, the world was emotionally moved by Elizabeth Debicki’s performance in the role. While she had done an eerily stunning job, she even left her fellow actors in tears when they watched the tragic car crash scene for the first time. Although the actors had revealed that it was their heaviest moment on set, their efforts may have just paid off. 

While Debicki was announced to be nominated, she was not the only one from the show. Even Dominic West’s King Charles seemed to have caught attention in the final season. After all, it did show fans a different side of his complicated relationship with his ex-wife.
