Despite the Show’s Popularity, Freya Allan Expressed Regret Over a Specific Aspect of ‘The Witcher’ Season 1
The Witcher has changed the game of the supernatural fantasy drama genre since it premiered on the streaming giant Netflix on December 20, 2019. While the world was fawning over Henry Cavill, Freya Allan as Ciri was also favorably received. The first season focused mostly on the show’s world-building and time jumping narrative. It was in the second season that both of the main characters established their footing. However, even in the thick of the plot and popularity, there was one component of the show that caused Allan some concern.
In a previous interview, Freya Allan highlighted one huge regret she had while filming The Witcher Season 1.

The three seasons of the show have been a testament to the fact that, given her ancestral line, Ciri has an incredible amount of power, and she wields it in an increasing number of ways. The audience got just that when Allan took over her character. While the character had a lot of confidence and a passion for vengeance in the series, the actress admitted to Radio Times in late 2021 that she “wasn’t very confident” when playing the role.
In the interview, the 22-year-old actress explained that it all came down to her own challenges and the change she was going through for her role. Furthermore, her character’s makeup “knocked years off her appearance.” This prompted her to have low self-esteem and worry about what others would think of her. However, despite her fears and worries, the actress performed admirably in the role, seeming more at ease as Ciri in the second and third seasons.
While the first season of the Netflix originals made her feel insecure, the actress is now on her way up the ladder, thanks to her roles in two of 2024’s most important projects.

The Witcher has always been in the midst of criticism; however, its upcoming season 4 may right the wrongs by putting Allan in the spotlight. The first seasons established the tale of Ciri’s destiny with Cavill’s Geralt and Anya Chalotra’s Yennefer, making her one of the originals’ most prominent characters. While the audience awaits the fourth season, another piece of news has arrived: Freya Allan has joined The Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes as the lead.
While not a lot is known about the new film at the moment, Allan will play Mae, a human character who will co-star with the ape protagonist Noa. Both franchises are continuing their past storylines and have already generated a lot of hype.
