Everyone is buzzing about the live-action reimagining of Oni Goroshi, which is to be released on Feb 27th with a mix of crime, vengeance, and deadly tension that brings first-class acting and a haunting soundtrack. Starring charismatic Toma Ikuta, who plays complex character Shuhei Sakata, a former hitman whose life crumbles when shadowy group Kimen-gumi targets him and his family for murder.
The ensemble is Japan’s finest, with standout performances for Masahiro Higashide, Masanobu Takashima, and Mio Tanaka in shadowy thugs working for an organization. Depth to the deadly plot comes in the form of experienced performers Naoto Takenaka and Matsuya Onoe, completing a talented group that brings life to such an exciting plot with standout performances.

A tale of vengeance and hidden truths

Shuhei Sakata's life takes a horribly wrong turn when not only are his wife and daughter slaughtered by the Kimen-gumi, but they frame him for that murder. Shot in the head and left for dead, Sakata lives and emerges out of a twelve-year coma, only to have a repeat run-in with his arch-rival. Awakening triggers a primal urge in him, Sakata transforms into a retribution-seeking "demon" with an axe in tow, taking retribution for ruining his life.

Set in rural city life in Shinjo, Demon City is under the direction of prize-winning director Seiji Tanaka. With its intense and raw action, Demon City introduces a new edge to redemption and justice. Demon City will premiere in late February, opening a thrill-filled year for Netflix.
