‘Cyberpunk 2077’ Game vs Netflix Anime ‘Cyberpunk: Edgerunners’ – What Do Fans Think?
The day has finally arrived. Netflix had promised a Cyberpunk: Edgerunners update in the GeekedWeek, and they did not disappoint us. The trailer for the new anime, which shares its universe with the “breathtaking” game Cyberpunk 2077, was dropped mere hours ago. The trailer looks absolutely stunning, and the only thing that beats the visuals is the mesmerizing original score.
But since the anime is a spin-off from the games, fans have somewhat of a base to compare the new show with. So who do the fans think looks better, the game or the new series? Let us find out.

Cyberpunk: Edgerunners is a 10-episode independent anime based on CD Projekt Red’s 2020 action role-playing game Cyberpunk 2077. It chronicles the story of a street boy attempting to survive in Night City, a futuristic metropolis fascinated with body modification technology.
With no other options, the young man decides to become an “edge runner” or cyberpunk, a mercenary outlaw-for-hire willing to go to any length to complete the assignment.
Hiroyuki Imaishi (Gurren Lagann, Promare) directs the anime, which includes character designs from Yoh Yoshinari. The world first got to know about the anime’s development back in 2020. So it indeed has been a long wait to see it in the flesh.
What are the people saying?
Naturally, fans of the game have already begun to debate about the series living up to its hype and the popularity of its original material, i.e., the game.
Surely, fans have a thing or two to tweet about.
