The Banshees of Inisherin was a masterpiece at its finest. The flick managed to shake up the coldest of hearts with its unique approach to friendships and the intricacy with which it symbolized the Irish civil war. It raked a total of nine nominations at the 95th Academy awards, but unfortunately, did not take any gold home. Despite being one of the most nominated movies at the Oscars 2023, apart from a few jokes about its complex pronunciation, there was not much for the movie at the event. Probably why they decided to get the beloved donkey from the dark comedy on stage.

Martin McDonagh’s dark comedy flick not only gave Colin Farrell his first Best Actor Oscar nomination, but, as evident by his gaze of love at the donkey from the movie, it did much more than that. Amidst winners getting up on stage and thanking their beloveds, Colin Farrell and his heart eyes for the donkey on stage stole hearts.

Fans of the black comedy flick were understandably disappointed as the black comedy film did not make the cut in any of the nine categories it was nominated for. However, the sight of Colin Farrell getting almost teary-eyed at the sight of his The Banshees of Inisherin sidekick on stage was one for sore eyes. In the brilliantly written and spectacularly executed screenplay, the donkey maintained a top-notch screen presence alongside his partner, Farrell. Kimmel joked about how it felt therapeutic to spend time with the donkey and Farrell presumably shared the same sentiments if his heart eyes and flying kiss were anything to go by.

During the filming of the dark comedy movie, the actor and animal duo had numerous scenes together. And although it seems like they made a bond of a lifetime during the filming, it wasn’t conventional. The donkey kicked the actor, causing him energy. Perhaps what fans are assuming is his love for the donkey is just a relief to be away from it.

Did the Oscars really bring the Banshees of Inisherin donkey on stage?

Jenny the donkey played a pivotal role in the Oscar-nominated movie. And therefore, it was only right that she be treated as an equal to the other cast members. However, Jimmy Kimmel took things up a notch when he got the donkey on stage, rendering not only Colin Farrell but also the rest of the audience speechless.
