Some classic movies stay with you forever. Because apart from the drama, it also has some life lessons. Those lessons always stay with us. For instance, lessons from the entire The Karate Kid franchise. The spin-off show, Cobra Kai, added beauty to it. Now, when the show is coming up with the final season, the writer of the show, Jon Hurwitz, revealed a major way of paying homage to the original movies.
The sixth season will see the connection between all the cliffhangers from the fifth season. At the end of season 5, we saw Kreese get out of prison and Terry Silver got arrested, while Eagle Fangs and Miyagi Do merged to fight against Silver. We also saw characters from The Karate Kids films appearing in the show. While all this was happening, the writer of the show pointed out a beautiful thing which was time.

Connecting the two timelines is hard, yet the Netflix show does it. The original films take place between 1984 to 1985. Just during this period, a lot of things happened with Daniel Russo. He shifted to LA with his mother. After coming to LA, he also fell in love, also learned karate, and faced Cobra Kai. In the same year, he survived the fight to the death and saved Okinawa as well. As he came back home, he fell in love again and once again, faced Cobra Kai.
Similarly, S6 of Cobra Kai begins roughly a year after our S2 finale. Time moves slowly in the Miyagiverse. #CobraKai #KarateKid https://t.co/d9PZWuqiZC

He pointed out that time moves slowly in the Miyagiverse. What did he mean by that? As he pointed out the time, he also revealed the timeline of the upcoming show as well. He wrote the sixth season of Cobra Kai will roughly begin a year after the finale of season 2. Well, what does he mean by that?
Everything happened in just one year. And the second season of the show saw Amanda forcing Daniel to wind up the Miyagi Do dojo. The Cobra Kai students blame Sensei Johnny because he taught his student, Miguel, the value of mercy. And as the writer of the show said, the sixth season of the show will roughly start where the second season ended. Well, all these things are directly and deeply connected to the original movies. Fans of the show have their own views about it.
Fans share their overwhelming response about the slowly moving Miyagiverse
As fans have been waiting for something official about the upcoming season of the show, they got this major news. They can not stop their assumptions about the upcoming season of the show.
Wow! Seems crazy Johnny's gone from his lowest point since the pilot (i.e. abandoning his/Stingray's car and the phone on the beach) to Daniel's co-sensei, reconciled with Robby (btw …more scenes with them, please) etc. in a year. And that's just his character!

I’ve always assumed the first karate kid took place over the course of a year and it was 1984 by the time of the all valley. Then kk 2 & 3 took place over the following year meaning it all actually took place over 2 years. Same with cobra Kai season 1 taking place over a year.
