As the release of Thor: Love and Thunder is right around the corner, fans of Aussie actor Chris Hemsworth are certainly enjoying the content they’re receiving as Spiderhead nears its release on Netflix as well. Despite the roles being miles apart from each other, the common characteristic that ties them together is Hemsworth’s Australian accent. While nothing about the said accent is “new frontier stuff“, the trailer below really shows the actor’s versatility and range.

Is Chris Hemsworth’s character in Netflix’s Spiderhead Australian?

After having seen the trailer, one pretty much gets the gist of the upcoming film. It is about a brilliant scientist (Chris Hemsworth) who certainly has a lot of ideas, and maybe a lack of humanity. His test subjects aren’t rats or guinea pigs. This scientist prefers to work with humans. Since a lot of humans would not be up for going through the torture, another way to look for volunteers is found. According to Steve Abnesti, people looking for “redemption“, i.e., ones who were incarcerated, will find a place at the lab facility.

While Spiderhead itself looks like a movie with great potential to top Netflix charts and win fans over, what has caught most attention is Chris Hemsworth’s Australian accent. In the past, the Thor actor has rarely ever played the role of an Australian man.

As for Spiderhead, the film was shot in Australia. Considering Hemsworth’s strong accent and the filming location, it is safe to assume that Abnesti and his crew are operating on the shores of Australia.

Abnesti is an evil visionary who seemingly has his life together. The scenes from the trailer suggest a very Nolen-esque touch to the character. He works out. His “drip” is always “on“, at least in the general sense of the phrase. And he seems to be doing quite well in terms of his career, as well. On the other hand, Thor will be going through a midlife crisis in the upcoming release.

Spiderhead will be available on Netflix on June 17, 2022, just a month before we see Hemsworth do a 180 in Thor: Love and Thunder. Make sure you don’t forget to stream!
