“Can’t they find someone else?” – Fans Get Outraged After Disney Announces Jared Leto to Star in ‘Tron Ares’

There were rumors about Disney financing another sequel of Tron after several years. Fans were initially excited because although the franchise is not as famous as Star Wars, it still has a pretty solid fanbase. However, with the latest update that Jared Leto is going to play the lead in the Tron sequel, people are bummed over the casting call.

The first movie was released in 1982, just a few years after the gigantic success of Star Wars. Of course, the latter overshadowed it, and it was moderately successful. Disney released Tron: Legacy years later in 2010. While the visual effects were stellar, the plot and the dialogues were not at par with the effects. It featured a generic plot and a generic hero. Now, with Leto attached to the sequel, fans cannot help but expect the same or worse.

Fans react to news of Jared Leto headlining Tron Ares

After the less-than-stellar performance of Jared Leto in Morbius, fans think the actor is overrated. The popular belief is that whatever he touches does not turn gold, but quite the opposite

His turn as Morbius in the MCU movie was highly criticized. Both critics and the public slammed the movie and his performance. It is considered one of the worst superhero movies of all time and is rated C+. Even during the release of this film, fans were outraged by the studio for casting him. In fact, just like Disney, DC is also hellbent on enraging fans with its decision to retain Ezra Miller.

The Thirty Seconds to Mars member also portrayed the ambitious role of Joker in The Suicide Squad. But he was often compared to his predecessor, Heath Ledger, who immortalized the role. He was not convincing as a terrifying insane man, but he just looked like someone who put on clown makeup.

According to Deadline, Disney has reportedly roped in Norwegian filmmaker Joachim Rønning. This is his fourth collaboration with Disney. Jesse Wigutow is serving as the scriptwriter. Sam Dickerman and Sean Bailey are executive producers. Justin Springer and Emma Ludbrook are also attached to the project as producers.
