The Witcher fans have been mourning the loss of Henry Cavill as Geralt for over one year now. The creators have replaced him with Liam Hemsworth from season 4, which sees the mutant attempting to rescue Ciri. However, this casting choice did not sit well with the majority of fans, who believed no one could fit the role like the British actor did. Since he would never return to take the medallion, the team has been trying to fill the gaps with new characters. And the recent addition has been Laurence Fishburne will join the Continent as Regis in season 4.

The question, however, remains if the addition of the new cast will smoothen things for the replacement of Geralt.

Fans may not have accepted that Liam Hemsworth will play Geralt instead of Henry Cavill. But the addition of Laurence Fishburne to the cast can certainly be considered a silver lining for them. The Matrix star joins as the fan-favorite Regis from the books and video games. Introduced in Andrzej Sapkowski’s novel Baptism Of Fire, this worldly Barber-surgeon with a mysterious past joins Geralt on his journey.

Not only that, the character has proved to be an alley for the monster slayer during their time together. He saved the White Wolf and Jaskier when they were caught by a vengeful commander, and taken to Fort Armeria for execution. The vampire used his abilities to put the sentries to sleep undetected and release the Witcher and bard.

It is by far no secret The Witcher has had a rough road since the exit of Henry Cavill. So the fantasy drama certainly needs actors who make the show worth watching. Actors like Laurence Fishburne can be a ray of hope considering his impressive resume. He has won three Emmys and was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Actor for his role in What’s Love Got to Do with It.

What remains to be seen is how the creator depicts his character in the show. Apart from him, several familiar faces will return in season 4. It includes Anya Chalotra’s Yennefer, Freya Allan’s Ciri, and Jaskier played by Joey Batey. The shooting of the upcoming season will kick start this spring. Meanwhile, the only thing that remains clear is that Henry Cavill was one of the best things that happened to the show and his absence would have a massive impact on viewers.
