Can ‘Cobra Kai’ Season 6 Fix a Villainous Dynamic From the Original ‘Karate Kid’ Films?
There is one common thing between The Karate Kid movies and the spin-off show, Cobra Kai. And that is the deeply rooted and insane rivalry. In the original, The Karate Kid films, Kreese’s ego made him Mr. Miyagi’s rival. It continued through their disciples, Johnny and Daniel, as well. However, the villainous duo of Johnny and Kreese broke in the spin-off series. But there is a possibility of Kreese finding another ally for himself.
In the previous season, we saw Kenny joining Cobra Kai’s dojo. From being weak to becoming dangerous, Kenny Payne’s character development reminded us of Johnny Lawrence. Is history going to repeat itself? As ScreenRant suggested, John Kreese and Kenny could possibly team up in season 6 of the series. In the previous season, we saw Cobra Kai’s Terry Silver getting arrested and John Kreese getting out of jail.

Now, to restart the dojo, Kreese will have to bring back some past students. Therefore, because the most vulnerable choice is Kenny Payne, maybe Kreese would approach him. Now, if the showmakers, who are currently supporting the writers’ strike, wish to bring back the essence of the original movie, this is their perfect chance.
Kenny is a talented and skilled student. He is full of rage and thus, it makes him the perfect choice to replace Johnny in the first place. Now, the question is, how can this duo change the dynamic of the relationship?
How Cobra Kai season 6 can change the Kreese-Johnny dynamic?
When Kenny first joined the dojo, he was a victim. However, toward the end of the previous season, we saw him developing a structured rivalry with Daniel’s son, Anthony. With a lot of rage and harshness, Kenny became what Johnny Lawrence once was in The Karate Kid. Just like Johnny, no one could get through to Kenny as well. And this would give Kreese the perfect opportunity to make him win at the Sekai Taikai. Nevertheless, this opportunity will also provide Kreese one more chance of redeeming himself, too.

In the films, when Kreese pushed Johnny too hard at the All-Valley, things started to go south for Kreese. Following the fight, when Johnny secured second place and congratulated LaRusso, Kreese could not handle his rage. In the parking lot, he almost killed Johnny as well. All these things made him the perfect villain in the movies. However, the championship in the series is the second chance for him to handle things in a different way.

It could be possible for Kreese to lead Kenny away from the path of destruction and towards a more hopeful future. It would be an opportunity for both Cobra Kai characters to be redeemed and Kreese’s story throughout the franchise would reach a heartwarming and satisfying conclusion.
However, this is a theory the series could follow. What are your thoughts about it? Tell us in the comments below.
