Billie Eilish posting Ocean Eyes on Soundcloud was truly a blessing. Had the singer not done it, she wouldn’t have become the global pop star that she is now. However, Eilish becoming a sensation is not just a win for the music world but also for teenagers who struggle with unrealistic body expectations set up by society.

Being a teenager herself when she entered the harsh lights of the camera, Eilish had a lot of issues with her body. But instead of feeding into the narrative, the singer has always spoken candidly about the problems she has faced with accepting herself, especially her body. While understanding who she was as a person came easily to her, understanding and accepting her body was a whole other story that she willingly told in her latest Vogue cover story.

Billie Eilish opens up about her hypermobility

The Grammy-winning singer who just turned 21 years old spoke very candidly about her body issues in her latest Vogue cover story alongside other climate activists. “A lot of it came from my anger toward my body, and how mad I was at how much pain it’s caused me, and how much I’ve lost because of things that happened to it,” said Eilish. The singer is referring to an injury that she sustained in her hip joint when she was thirteen years old.

In her tell-all documentary, Billie Eilish: The World’s a Little Blurry, the pop star revealed that she used to dance a lot, about 12 hours a week. However, following the injury, she went through a terribly depressing episode.

The Happier Than Ever did not have it easy with her body, especially with millions commenting on it. The singer was brutally trolled when photos of her ditching her baggy outfits in favor of workout gear surfaced on the internet. Billie Eilish has learned the hard way that having confidence in yourself and your body is very important.
