Karate as a martial art was famous with several movies like the Karate Kid franchise dedicated to it. However, Cobra Kai renewed the interest of audiences in this martial art with its 80s vibe, accurate action sequences, and gripping story. And just like the All Valley Karate Tournament organizers in the show, we want to support your interest and elevate the value of karate. So, we have created a list of shows like Cobra Kai that have the right amount of martial arts to satisfy your action palate.
Kickin’ It
The 2011-Disney sitcom has four seasons, and a storyline somewhat similar to The Karate Kid franchise. Jack joins a struggling dojo but turns it around for them by saving it from shutting down.

If you want the complete opposite of Sensei Johnny Lawrence, watch Jason Earles of Hannah Montana fame play Sensei Rudy. Kickin’ It isn’t a show for the karate purists; instead, it caters to the feel-good category.
Into The Badlands
We move into far more serious territory with this 2015-drama series, which has three seasons. Sunny (Daniel Wu), a skilled assassin, takes M.K. under his wings as they travel through the badlands. Different barons rule the badlands, a feudal civilization where poppy fields and assassins determine one’s wealth.
The student-mentor relationship of Cobra Kai is wholesome, but Into The Badlands portrays a more complicated relationship. You can also consider it a wild west meets martial arts situation, but it also blends the fantasy genre. You can stream the series on Netflix or Amazon Prime Video.
Kung Fu
If the name of the series is Kung Fu, it should be right up your alley. Nicky Shen, overwhelmed by her life in the US, joins a monastery in China and returns to the US with martial arts skills. However, after returning to the US, Nicky finds herself in a superhero role, where she deals with crime in the town. Nicky also has a team, which includes her nerdy sister, her pre-med brother, her ex, and her new boyfriend.
You can watch Kung Fu to find out which actor has aced the martial arts moves between Tory, Sam, and Nicky. Kung Fu premiered on The CW on April 7, 2021, and is available to stream on Hulu TV, YouTube TV, and Fubo TV.
Warrior Nun
Warrior Nun is a 2020 fantasy drama series on Netflix, and it might have appeared in your recommendations. The series is an adaptation of Warrior Nun Areala created by Ben Dunn. The official Netflix page has the following synopsis: “After waking up in a morgue, an orphaned teen discovers she now possesses superpowers as the chosen Halo-Bearer for a secret sect of demon-hunting nuns.”
If you thought Tory and Sam were badass fighters, wait until you see the warrior nuns in this show. Netflix has officially renewed it for a 2nd season because of the positive response from the audience. Spanish creators have moved past the usual crime/thriller genres to foray into the superhero/fantasy genre with this one.

Wu Assassins
Wu Assassins might have the most bizarre plots ever, but it seems to work well. A chef being an assassin is unheard of but before you jump to conclusions, there is a reason for it all. Wu warlords have been misusing the mystical Wu powers for the wrong purposes, and only the chosen Wu assassin can stop them.

Wu Assassins resembles Cobra Kai in the training montages as Kai discovers his true Wu powers just like Miguel and Robby after learning new moves. Netflix released the action-fiction series in 2019, but there are no updates on season two of the series.
