Looks like Ben Affleck still has some parts of his Gone Girl character, Nick Dunne, living inside of him given how he bashed Netflix in front of its CEO, all with a smile on his face while promoting his own production. For those who are living under a cave, the New York Times DealBook Summit that gave MET Gala a run for its money took place on the 30th of November. The Summit was basically the MET Gala for geniuses in business and had the CEO of almost every big company from Amazon to Netflix on its guest list.

Ben Affleck, who has recently transitioned from his Golden Globe and BAFTA-winning acting career into setting up a production company with his Good Will Hunting co-star, Matt Damon, was also there. The Gone Girl actor had some valuable insight to share about where he thinks the Hollywood industry is headed.

Ben Affleck calls out Netflix’s co-CEO Reed Hastings

The BAFTA award-winning actor was invited to speak about Recasting the Creator’s Role in Entertainment. Therefore, it does not come as a shock that the Batman actor who recently became the CEO of a production company named Artists Equity did not bat an eye before calling out the streaming giant.

If you take a look at Ben Affleck’s filmography, you may have noticed that the actor has almost never done a mindless commercial film. He believes that filmmaking “is a thing that requires attention and dedication and work, and it resists the sort of assembly line process.” The actor further said, “If you ask Reed Hastings (co-CEO and Chairman of Netflix).. he’d say, ‘Hey, we went for quantity to establish a footprint,”.

Now blame his prominent jawline or strong-willed attitude, but the actor simply could not mince his words. Additionally, Affleck strongly believes that it is impossible to keep churning out five masterpieces at a time. And he alongside Matt Damon will make sure that Hollywood still has good movies that people come back to after years. The all-rounder has chosen to make a series on the blockbuster deal between Michael Jordan and Nike. It already has talents like Jason Bateman and Viola Davis under the belt.
