The Duchess of Sussex, Meghan Markle, did not run lines with most members of the royal family. There have been numerous controversies surrounding her and the Waleses. The now-King Charles showed little affection. We do not have many overwhelming stories about the present Queen Consort and the Duchess either. However, the one person she was able to bond with quickly was the late Queen Elizabeth II herself. 

Back when the American actress stepped into the royal folds for the first time, reports had it that the Palace was all welcoming of the drastic changes within the landed aristocracy. However, though not all of it proved to be true, the Queen somewhat had a soft corner for her youngest granddaughter-in-law. 

Eminent royal expert, Katie Nicholl, once claimed in her book that it was of utmost importance to Prince Harry to get the approval of everyone in the Palace, but more importantly, from the Queen herself. While many thought the latter would be the toughest job of all, it was actually the easiest of all since “she recognizes how happy Meghan makes harry.” “The Queen likes Meghan,” she further added. 

In fact, out of everyone in the royal family, Prince Harry personally shared a comparatively closer bond with his late grandmother than anyone else. It was for this reason that the Duke himself took Markle to personally meet the Queen before moving ahead with things.

How did the Queen show her affection to Meghan Markle?

The beautifully settling bond between the late Queen and the now estranged Duchess came quite evident ever since they stepped out together for Markle’s first-ever royal outing. The Queen, who was usually accompanied by the Princess of Wales, Kate Middleton, or her grandsons, stepped out in green while sharing endless giggles with the newest member of the family. 

As even affirmed by the royal expert, Queen Elizabeth trusted Meghan Markle with a lot of responsibilities. Manifesting the same, she had also invited Markle to the family’s commonwealth day service in 2017, even before she was officially married to Prince Harry. The same became one of the greatest proofs of the Queen’s liking towards Markle, since the Commonwealth Day Service is considered being one of the most important events in the royal calendar.
