Editing and adding visual effects is something each and every film or series needs. But, The Witcher is more dependent on this technology than most other films. Much like Game of Thrones in its later seasons, the series has a high number of mythological creatures. In fact, most of the plot of The Witcher relies on magic and mythical creatures.

The video begins with Nivellen, a boar/human hybrid. A creature like Nivellen has certainly not been seen on the screens before. Bringing to life his story with the same level of seriousness and sensibility as the books was difficult, but the VFX team managed to do this task to perfection.

Apart from recreating the animosity of the striga or the dragon, the VFX team also had to ensure that the visual effects do not overshadow or subvert the actors’ performance. The prime example of this would be Kristofer Hivju, popular for his role in Game of Thrones, as Nivellen. The actor pulled a performance that competes with the likes of Andy Serkis as Gollum from The Lord of the Rings.

There also are the fights and combats that make up for the most enthralling parts of the Netflix Original. The video shows examples of this in the Witchers’ fight with the monster Voleth Meir brings to life or the Leshy that resides in Eskel’s body.

Fans have particularly praised the CGI of the Netflix live-action series in the second season. Much like any other show, the production gradually got better and viewers certainly enjoyed it. What are your thoughts? Let us know in the comments!
