Kanye West probably did not imagine that he would impact pop history the way he did when he stepped on the MTV stage in 2009 to interrupt Taylor Swift. Nor did he imagine the impact of his mere seconds-long interruption would have on his career. Despite the hikes in unpredictable behavior that the rapper has shown throughout the years, fans have pinned down one quality of the ‘College Dropout’ rapper and that is his passion.

Ye is deeply passionate about his art and, of course, his love for Beyoncé. However, when he released ‘Power’ after the infamous incident and did not hold the same chart-breaking power that his other albums did, Ye saw that his Beyoncé evangelism was putting his career at risk.

Kanye West was afraid of losing his career after the Taylor Swift incident

The rapper had been enjoying back-to-back hits at the time he interrupted Taylor Swift onstage. But the aftermath did not bear any resemblance to his shining career earlier. Ye released ‘Power’ in July 2010 when the world was yet to forgive his behavior with Taylor Swift. “It doesn’t eradicate the Taylor Swift incident. It’s not big enough to K.O. that,” Consequence told HipHopDX.

The rapper, who has collaborated with Ye, further added, “Brands ain’t gonna forget that touring ain’t gonna forget that, so forth and so on. So which put Kanye in a corner, and he came out flying.”

This led to Kanye West changing his strategy and dropping out singles every week before dropping the real bomb, which was his fifth album titled ‘My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy.’ Ye feared that he might have ruined the career he worked so hard for after the Taylor Swift incident.

But that didn’t stay for long. West, who was once afraid that disrespecting Taylor Swift damaged his career, hopped right back into his feud with the ‘Bad Blood’ singer when he dropped ‘Famous’ in 2016. Apart from the graphics, Kanye West rapped “made that **** famous” referring to the MTV incident in 2009.

After the short-lived moment of insecurity regarding his career back in 2009, Ye’s confidence in himself and his career has evidently grown ten folds. Or fans assume that must be the case as he has been on a rampage of making controversial statements, paying no regard to his image or career.
