2023 just started, and it’s going great for Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney. The co-owners of the third oldest football team in the world, Wrexham AFC just beat out a formidable opponent, Coventry. Now the fifth-tier team is to face a Premier League Team in the next round. It seems Sheffield United is already hoping to play a match against the underdogs!
The Canadian superstar bought the Wales team in 2020 with partner Rob for $2.5 million. While none of them had any experience managing a football club, they were still willing to do everything needed to bring back the former fame and glory to the team. And their efforts have since paid off.
Sheffield United already has a challenge for Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney before the fourth-round draw
After the grand upset that Wrexham AFC pulled off in the third round of the FA Cup, all eyes are on Wrexham AFC. A fifth-tier club beating a club that plays three tiers higher is a true underdog story, and Sheffield United is already ready to take on the Wales Team. They offered dinner and a “proper pint” for Wrexham owners Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney if they pick Sheffield United in the lucky draw and the match takes place at Bramall Lane.
Dear @RMcElhenney, to uphold your perception of #Sheffield folk: if @Wrexham_AFC draw with @SheffieldUnited and there’s a replay at Bramall Lane, then dinner and a proper pint for you and @VancityReynolds is on us.
But you are welcome in @theoutdoorcity at any time too 😎 https://t.co/YhuSvIMRBi

But they also added that Hollywood stars are welcome to the town anytime they want to visit! The team tweeted this open challenge in reply to one of Rob’s tweets. Earlier the It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia star had tweeted about the hospitality of Sheffield and its folks.

But he had added that he must view them as enemies now. Despite loving the town and the people Rob sided with his team, hoping to stop Sheffield United’s reign over the Championships once and for all.
On January 7th, Wrexham AFC made history when it won 4-3 against Coventry. Although the Hulu docu-series Welcome to Wrexham has not announced its second season yet fans are sure this historic moment will surely make it to the series!
Do you think Wrexham can continue its winning streak?
