When Meghan Markle decided to get married to Prince Harry, she probably did not see that she was subscribing to a lifetime of a feud. The case of the majority of netizens in the United Kingdom was different. Ever since it was announced that Meghan Markle and Prince Harry are dating each other to marry, there was an extreme divide between those who clapped the first steps of a biracial woman into the royal family and those who screamed danger.
Half a decade has passed, historical changes have been made, and yet the sentiments remain a different shade of the same color. Only now the question is not who will inflict more harm on whom between Prince Harry and Meghan Markle and the royal family but instead who will apologize first.

The difference between the mannerism of the Sussexes and other royal members has always been highlighted. This was mostly done by the tabloids until Prince Harry and Meghan Markle decided to speak for themselves. From the Oprah interview to Spare, the couple has created a big divide between themselves and the royal family. One which, according to them, will only be cleared if the Palace sincerely apologizes to them. And according to Jack Royston, a journalist who appeared on ITV’s Good Morning Britain, “It’s never going to happen,“.
The royal family may not agree with a lot of things that the couple said in their Netflix docuseries, but they will agree with one and that is, Sussexes are unlikely to ever receive an apology.
Royston gave a very good reason for it. According to him, “certain members of the royal family think they are owed an apology the other way.” This is likely to be true given how even netizens do not approve of Prince Harry airing the royal family’s dirty laundry in California. Therefore, they may have numerous differences, but their demand for an apology ironically unites them.

With the burns left by Prince Harry’s Spare still recovering, many found it bewildering that the royal family has sent the Sussexes an invitation to the coronation. Many wondered if it was their way of making amends. However, that is unlikely. The institution sent Prince Harry and Meghan Markle an invitation to stay above the drama like they always have.

The pin-drop silence at the accusation even after their own kin publicly asked for one, only to later send an invitation, is a testament to this. No matter how long the back and forth continues, who apologizes first will always remain a significant question.
