Some seven months from now, the cinema world is likely to witness a France vs Argentina-Esque showdown as the two highly anticipated, star-studded movies are to make their debut. Oppenheimer by Christopher Nolan and Barbie by Greta Gerwig. While one is a historical war drama starring none other than the very talented Cillian Murphy, the other is a fantasy film. It probably aims to satirize the grand beauty standards set by all the former barbie movies.
It’s July 21 and you’re about to enter the movie theater to watch ‘BARBIE’ and ‘OPPENHEIMER’. Which are you watching first?

And although only the future will tell if we will get a winner off this heavyweight bout or both the dramas will have a 2-2 score towards the end; teaser clips of both Barbie and Oppenheimer are out now and fans are going berserk on social media.
Both Barbie and Oppenheimer coming out on the same day, fans have some thoughts about the trailers
Last Saturday, Greta Gerwig’s subversive interpretation of the titular doll, Barbie, debuted in its first official teaser. Further, December 19th saw Christopher Nolan’s newest justification for detonating an atomic bomb, and Oppenheimer, debuting in its official trailer. Ever since, fans have been spamming with memes and comments on how both movies are vastly different from each other and yet will be the greatest flicks of the year, releasing on the same day.

Some also make fun of how the audience of one film will cross paths with the audience of another with the use of diverse characters to represent the diversity both movies bear.

One of the fans also joked about the jerk Barbie fans may feel when the Cillian Murphy starrer reels its bombarding scene.

Notably, both movies seem to have the enthusiasm to examine dystopian ideas from a fresh perspective. One thing is certain: Hollywood would have two brand-new independent projects next summer, free from the typical franchise trappings of Marvel, DC, and similar. Hence, both Oppenheimer and Barbie may prove to be brilliant summer blockbusters in the face of this franchise oversaturation, hopefully providing cinephiles with a breath of fresh air.
