Ryan Gosling is one actor who, ever since the beginning, has maintained versatility in his characters. Despite being a part of the industry ever since he was a child, Gosling did not jump at the opportunity of being a part of a big movie franchise. The actor has step by step with every brilliant movie choice drilled deep into our heads the fact that he is one of the most excellent performers in the industry.

Given how the actor always likes versatility, the indie movie star was asked if he would be up for playing Batman in the DC Extended Universe and let’s just say his reaction was not on a par with Henry Cavill jumping up and down after he was chosen as Superman.

Does Ryan Gosling want to play Batman?

The actor has morphed seamlessly into every character he has taken up, be it a hopeless romantic or super-doll’s boyfriend. And given the chokehold grip Superhero movies have on us, fans wanted to know if Gosling would be down to step into the DC universe as Batman. It was in 2018 when Ryan Gosling was basking in the success of the Neil Armstrong biographical film, First Man. In an interview at the Toronto International Film Festival in 2018, Ryan Gosling had a very questioning response when asked about taking on the role of Batman.

The character of Batman in the DC Universe has a rich heritage. While at the time Robert Pattinson had not dawned the costume, it already had the imprint of great actors like Michael Keaton, Adam West, Christian Bale, and Ben Affleck.

Given the heritage, we were all expecting an “I’m ready when you are” response to DC from Ryan Gosling. Now we agree that expecting his eyes to light up at the mention of Batman is unrealistic.

But the actor got so awkward in his attempt to find a respectful way to say that he wasn’t looking to play the role that he didn’t even answer the question. Instead, Gosling slid it into Damien Chazelle’s bucket. The irony being the fact that Chazelle is not even an actor. However, luckily for the La La Land actor, the director knew just the right way to answer the question. “Neil Armstrong is the real-life superhero, so you know..” Gosling may be a superstar, but he isn’t stepping into superhero costumes anytime soon.
