In the Netflix docuseries that was released last month, Meghan Markle revealed the details of her first encounter with Prince William and Kate Middleton. The Duchess labeled it as a formal and uptight meeting. She mentioned jarring the Prince and Princess of Wales with her informal outfit and hugging nature. It seems that it was not the only uncomfortable interaction Markle had with her future in-laws.

In his memoir Spare, which will hit the stores on January 10, Prince Harry narrated another incident involving Meghan Markle and Kate Middleton that left the latter awkward. In February 2018, the former American actress made her debut in the United Kingdom as a royal member. She shared the stage for the first time with the Wales couple at the Royal Foundation Forum in London. Before the commencement of the event, the Suits alum stunned the future Queen Consort by requesting a makeup product. Why Middleton was taken aback by Markle’s request?

Kate Middleton was reluctant to share her things with Meghan Markle

Before the important appearance in February 2018, Prince Harry became a witness in an awkward moment between Meghan Markle and Kate Middleton. The former American actress forgot her lip gloss and did not shy away from asking her to-be sister-in-law for help. The Duke believes that it was a “very American” request by the actress and took then Duchess of Cambridge by surprise. 

“Kate, taken aback, went into her handbag and reluctantly pulled out a small tube. Meg squeezed some onto her finger and applied it to her lips. Kate grimaced,” Prince Harry revealed as per Page Six. 

The Sussex royal further revealed that the incident created an uncomfortable atmosphere. He believes that they should have been able to laugh about it. However, the tension probably reflected on their faces and back then, the press could sense that something was off. 

Prince Harry also reflected on the potential reason behind Kate Middleton’s cold behavior. He is of the opinion that the Princess of Wales was on the edge throughout the Royal Foundation Forum Event 2018 as she knew that there will be comparisons between her and Meghan Markle.
