Award-Winning Series Luther Starring Idris Elba to Return as a Film on Netflix
The international hit and acclaimed crime series, Luther, created by Neil Cross for the BBC, will continue in a feature film on Netflix. Luther will pick up from the story where the series left and could be an exciting continuation of the Luther saga, reimagined for the film.
Under its pact with Chernin Entertainment, the streaming platform will produce the film in association with the BBC. Furthermore, Emmy Award Nominee Jamie Payne will be the director, and another Emmy Nominee Neil Cross will write for Luther once again.

The film’s producers include Peter Chernin, Jenno Topping and David Ready for Chernin Entertainment. The other producers are Neil Cross and Idris Elba. Meanwhile, the executive producers are Dan Finlay for Chernin Entertainment, Priscilla Parish for BBC Studios, and Kris Thykier.
The shooting for the film is to begin in November.

Grammy, Tony, Emmy Winner, and two-time Academy Award Nominee Cynthia Erivo (Harriet) and Emmy Award Nominee Andy Serkis (The Lord of the Rings trilogy, War for the Planet of the Apes) will star alongside Golden Globe winner Idris Elba in the titular role.
Luther Series (2010-)
Luther is a British psychological crime drama that follows the life of Luther, an excellent criminal detective. The series first premiered on BBC One in the UK on May 4, 2010. The television series was released in 5 seasons, with a total of 20 episodes. It has an 8.4/10 rating on IMDb. The fifth part of the series premiered on January 1, 2019.

Idris Elba has won two Golden Globes and a Royal Television Society best actor award for his performance in the titular role.
Luther is a brilliant detective, DCI John Luther, who can get inside a criminal’s head. He deals with serial killers in psychological mind games, playing by their ways. His style, techniques, and troubled private life get him caught in conflicts with superiors.

Given the announcement of the film, fans will no doubt be excited at the prospect of seeing this character’s story continue. However, a certain portion may be skeptical, as they may worry about the film not living up to the high standards of the TV series.
