Audience Not Excited for ‘Barbie’ and ‘Oppenheimer’? Surprising Survey Puts 6 Movies Ahead of Them for Summer Releases
The internet has been buzzing with the hype for Christopher Nolan’s Oppenheimer and Greta Gerwig’s Barbie for the last few months. These two projects seemed to shape the biggest battle among fans that which movie will emerge as the winner. The mantle of both films is in the hands of Oscar-nominated directors. Not to forget, the star-studded cast like Margot Robbie, Ryan Gosling, Robert Downey Jr., and Cillian Murphy is making the audience even more excited. Surprisingly, even after having all the attention-seeking factors, the two movies failed to top the list of the best summer releases.
The official account of Fandango, an American ticketing company, recently shared the results of their poll on Twitter. It revealed the survey based on the opinions of more than 6000 ticket buyers. The first seats among the top 15 most anticipated movies of summer 2023 were taken by Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse, Mission Impossible Dead Reckoning Part 1, The Flash, Transformers: Rise of the Beasts, The Little Mermaid, and Fast X. While Barbie and Oppenheimer which turned the internet upside down in the past month stand on 7th and 8th spot.

It is certainly shocking that both of these films did not get the biggest spot on the list, considering the memes and Instagram reels people are sharing endlessly. Moreover, reviewer websites and news publications are also saying that the dramas are apt for bringing in an impressive haul at the box office.

Many might remember how fans gushed about two blessings landing in theatres on the same day. So the question that rises here is why people are not choosing these highly anticipated movies over others. However, this poll does not define the final result millions of fans give in theatres.

There are many reasons one can give why Barbie and Oppenheimer will have fierce competition at the box office. The dreamy aesthetics of Barbie look awesome where the world is all about hot pink outfits and sleek hair. On the other hand, names attached to the historical drama don’t need an introduction.
Not to mention, Nolan is one of the few directors in the world who can attract audiences with his name alone. Meanwhile, this battle between two genres might be exciting, but it also ensures there are options for all types of fans.
