As Everybody Gears up for the Coronation, Here Is a Throwback to When King Charles Attended His First Coronation
King Charles is giving England its first coronation in a long time. The King of England is now 74 years old and is gearing up for his grand coronation on the 6th of May. After Queen Elizabeth passed away in late 2022, Prince Charles assumed the throne, with Queen Consort Camilla by his side. This is arguably the most anticipated coronation, not only because King Charles is the oldest monarch to be throned, but also because of the very public drama that the royal family has found itself to be a part of.
The devoted audience is spending their days and nights wondering what the big day is going to look like. Since Queen Elizabeth’s coronation in 1953, almost everything has changed as King Charles’s coronation approaches closer. Including the man in question himself, who was only four years old when his mother was hailed as the Queen of England.

In 1953, Queen Elizabeth was crowned at Westminster Abbey as a little King Charles watched with quite a lack of excitement. It seems that the new King has a knack for striking firsts with coronations. At Queen Elizabeth’s coronation, he became “the first child to see his mother invested as sovereign” as the royal family states on its official website. As the procession carried on, the now King Charles was spotted looking blase as he sat between The Queen Mother and Princess Margaret.
With how involved he has been in the preparations, it is clear that King Charles will not carry over the sentiments from the previous coronation to his own. While he does appear bored, it could be highly possible that the future King was making a note of reducing the 8,000 attendees, which is just what he did when his time came around.

This time around, all three of Prince William’s kids are expected to be a part of the procession from Westminster Abbey to Buckingham Palace. It is unclear if Prince Harry and Meghan Markle will show up at the coronation. However, if they do, even their kids will have a seat at the Kensington Palace Balcony.
