Arnold Schwarzenegger, ever since rejoining the art of cinema and acting, has been cautious about his projects. Whether this was an active choice made now that he has the Former Governor of California attached to his name or his dedication to delivering only the best is still unclear. Still, it has been a treat for fans, regardless. Especially since his trademark franchise failed to deliver with its last movie in 2019. Schwarzenegger shocked the audience as he went for a four-year-long hiatus only to choose a web series for his big comeback. And looks like the wait has been worth it.

The former bodybuilder made his debut into the world of series with Netflix’s FUBAR. And while it was slated to be a success given Schwarzenegger’s star power, that it would make a beeline to the top spots still came as a surprise. Fans from every corner of the world shared their Netflix page, where the #1 spot was claimed by FUBAR. This proved to be a tough feat to achieve in the United States, where Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story, had claimed the position since May, yet FUBAR prevailed.

It was recorded a week ago that the Bridgerton spinoff series had surpassed viewership of 42.9 million hours. This record was broken by FUBAR in less than half the time, as it claimed the #1 spot in the United States within a week of its debut.

The 75-year-old actor since the ripe age of fifteen has been winning gold medals. And while the names of the awards changed, the fact that Arnold Schwarzenegger would emerge as a winner did not. While the actor is mostly used to seeing big numbers at the box office with his larger-than-life movies, FUBAR‘s digital release did not disappoint him.

The record-breaking views on the thriller series starring Arnold Schwarzenegger and Monica Barbaro as father-daughter CIA agents-duo have squashed with fervor any assumption of the actor’s dwindling relevance. FUBAR may not have a big opening at the box office that the Austrian Oak’s fans are used to, but it tasted an OTT version of blockbuster success.

Fans rejoice as Arnold Schwarzenegger takes the #1 spot on Netflix

The FUBAR trailer was a culmination of things that fans loved about the former bodybuilder. It had his classic action sequences, his eagerness to rekindle with his family, and, most importantly, his iconic catchphrase. FUBAR brought back Schwarzenegger’s timeless “I’ll be back,” as “I am back.” But that was not all that fans loved about the series.

Those who know of the 1994 Jamie Lee Curtis and Schwarzenegger starrer action phenomenon, True Lies, could not help but get a sense of déjà vu. And the actor was more than happy that they did.

Schwarzenegger has also said Thank You far too many times since the release. He often indulges in fan discussions and interacts with them. And these only grew in number with the success of FUBAR. Now that it has reached the top spot on Netflix, the doors for a Season 2 have only opened wider.
