Arnold Schwarzenegger Had “No Regrets” for Using Steroids During His Years as a Bodybuilder

Arnold Schwarzenegger has managed to attain success in not one but three fields. Before becoming a household name with his performances in the iconic 90s Terminator movies, the actor was a renowned bodybuilder. Schwarzenegger was no ordinary bodybuilder, he is considered to be one of the best of all time. Furthermore, the former Governor of California started lifting weights when he was just fifteen years old. And at the ripe age of twenty, Schwarzenegger was already Mr. Universe and Mr. Olympia.

The bodybuilder has won Mr. Olympia, the greatest accolade in the bodybuilding world, a total of seven times. Schwarzenegger has an entire Sports Festival named after him and is considered as important as Mr. Olympia. While workouts and diet have a major part to play in the sculpted body, steroids are also a huge factor. The former Governor of California has confessed to using steroids during his time as a bodybuilder and he doesn’t seem to regret doing so.

Arnold Schwarzenegger does not regret using drugs

Looking at the insanely sculpted body of Arnold Schwarzenegger during his bodybuilding days, it goes without saying that it isn’t just a product of a balanced diet. The former Governor revealed in an interview with ABC News that he has used steroids in the past. “I have no regrets about it,” said Schwarzenegger on his steroid use. Steroids are often known as performance-enhancing drugs and are very common among individuals looking to build a muscular body.

The actor revealed that when he had taken steroids in order to enhance his performance that they were new and legal. “We went to the doctor and did it under the doctor’s supervision. We were experimenting with it. It was a new thing,” said Schwarzenegger.

His experience with steroids played a major factor when he vetoed a bill that would require high school coaches in California to enlighten students about the dangers of steroids.

He explained that he did so because the bill considered vitamins and proteins supplement to be steroids as well. And Schwarzenegger is a firm believer in the fact that people should be taking supplements in order to stay healthy. While steroids are harmful to children, and he does not encourage them, Arnold Schwarzenegger thinks their safe use would bear great fruits.
