In a world where slasher films and serial killer documentaries now come easily, there was once a time when just one name sent chills down your spine come October, Halloween. John Carpenter’s original franchise, a masterpiece of masked menace, remains the undisputed king of fright. Yet, despite its endless love affair with nostalgia and all things retro, Netflix does not have the Halloween franchise.
The streamer ensures that even if late, its users get to have the best content. However, it cannot win every race and in respect to the Halloween franchise, it seems that it was never a contender even. The rights to the movies were first owned by A24 and have now been won by Miramax.

While it may have fallen short of the cult classic that is the Halloween franchise, Netflix has been doing a good enough job with original content in the horror genre. This is especially true for its trusted horror director, Mike Flanagan, and his work on the 'haunting' series, which mainly includes, The Haunting of Hill House and The Haunting of Bly Manor.
Other works of Flanagan with Netflix are also held in high regard in the horror genre due to their nearly perfection direction, spine-chilling performances, and most importantly, the layered plots. Netflix's dedication to churning out original horror hits is not simply restricted to English-origin content but runs globally. Although Netflix may have failed to attain Halloween for its streamers, it does stream Get Out, a widely awarded horror movie.
