The Netflix Original drama, The Witcher, has been making headlines for a lot of reasons. One of them was the controversial departure of the fan-favorite actor, Henry Cavill. The British actor not only portrayed Geralt of Rivia but also embodied the character. Therefore, fans loved the accuracy of the original material for the character. But did you know the show also did the perfect job by casting another character accurately to the source? 

The drama has already received so much backlash for not following the original books. However, it did things right with the casting of the powerful character of Princess Cirilla of Cintra. At the beginning of the show, according to the books, Ciri was supposed to be around 11-13 years old. However, the actress Freya Allan, who was around 16 years old at the time, portrayed the character with the utmost accuracy. According to the books, the striking details of the character were her blonde locks and outstanding eyes, per Startefacts.

Did the young actress portray the source-accurate character? Absolutely, yes. Freya Allan certainly was the perfect choice to play Cirilla and there is one more reason for it. Although there is a little confusion in the plot of the initial episodes of the first season, episode 4 introduces us to the Lion Cub of Cintra’s mother, Pavetta. Pavetta passes on the Elder Blood to her daughter, which creates never-ending troubles for Ciri.

Fortunately, Gaia Mondadori, the actress who portrayed Pavetta, and Freya Allan look extremely alike. It also led many fans to question if these two were blood-related. Surprisingly, they are not related at all. Their uncanny resemblance is not limited to their similar blond locks. They both have extremely similar gazes, too.

After 2 seasons, the third season also sees the two actresses together, sharing the screen where Ciri becomes the central character.

After Henry Cavill, The Witcher Season 3 makes Ciri the center of the plot

The second part of the third season of the Netflix Original dropped on the streaming giant on the 29th of July. The season saw Cavill’s departure from the iconic character. But it also established Freya Allan’s Cirilla, the center of the show, as the producer, Tomek Baginski, revealed. While Cirilla fights for her survival and joins the Rats, there are many events happening at the same time on the Continent.

Meanwhile, Yennefer also embraces her political role to find and protect Ciri. And the last episode saw Henry Cavill leaving the screen along with the show. Now, what will happen to Ciri? How will she find her way back to Yennefer and Geralt? Everything will be answered in the fourth season with Liam Hemsworth as the new face of Geralt of Rivia.
