Deadline rolled out a report revealing The Queen’s Gambit will now be a stage musical. Three years after the adaptation of Walter Tevis’s novel into the Netflix hit show, this story has now turned to Broadway. Oscar-nominated singer Mitski will pen down the music and lyrics for the show, alongside playwright Eboni Booth. Also, Whitney White will direct it under the banner of production house Level Forward.
Mitski expressed her excitement in a statement revealing she has always been a fan of the Netflix show. So when this project came around, she instantly onboarded and has been eagerly waiting to work with the team. The creators seemed to have picked the idea from Stranger Things which announced their stage show in March this year. The hype for The First Shadow has been taking over the minds of fans for months and the team teased them some days ago.
As for the stage play of The Queen’s Gambit, it remains unclear when it will be released. However, the prequel play of the horror drama has been gearing up for its arrival in the theatre for some time now. The play will dive deeper into the supernatural world of Hawkins that involves the childhood of Henry Creel.
