Netflix’s ‘Avatar: The Last Airbender’ Is Not That Serious Says Daniel Day Kim
It is the era of anime, and Netflix is holding the loudest celebrations. From bringing fan-favorite anime to the platform to making original anime that is winning hearts, the OTT Mughal is feeding anime fans well. However, the biggest feast, Avatar: The Last Airbender live remake, is yet to be served. The stakes for this series are not only high but quite thorny, given the last adaptation that is widely accepted to be a disaster. However, Lord Ozai, who will be getting the face of Daniel Dae Kim, has some good news for the fans.
If done right, Netflix’s adaptation can restore the faith of anime fans in live-action remakes and serve as a playbook for much more exciting anime to live-action series and movies. However, according to Daniel Day Kim, a member of the main cast, it is apparently not all that serious.

A project that will probably change the course of live-action anime remakes is Netflix’s Avatar: The Last Air Bender. Thanks to M. Night Shyamalan, the creators of the Netflix series has an entire movie depicting what not to do when making a live-action anime remake of Avatar: The Last Airbender. And one of the greatest findings from this chapter was to not steal from Avatar: The Last Airbender what makes it a gem: the comedy.
As evident by Daniel Dae Kim’s latest revelation on the TigerBelly podcast, Avatar: The Last Airbender will not repeat its predecessor’s mistake. “There is a lot of comedy in this,” he said.
While it may not sound so big, the fact that the upcoming live-action series of the Nickelodeon anime will have tons of comedy is a huge green light for fans who criticized the previous remake for the lack of it. The abundance of comedy also ensures that even those who were not previously fans of the animation can also enjoy the series.
