Ever since its beginning in 1996, Pokémon has expanded to now 1008 Pokémon species. Originally a game, the franchise has, throughout the years, only broken the barriers to greater success. And with a show-stopping Netflix series in its name, Pokémon Concierge, it does not seem to be stopping anytime soon. The new Netflix series is not your ordinary game-turned-into-an-animated-series adaptation.

More importantly, the Netflix Pokémon series will mark the retirement of the cherished Pikachu to make way for a new wave of characters. Therefore, the responsibility of making sure that a cherished franchise like that of Pikachu receives a good send off lies on the new series.

What is the Netflix’s Pokémon Concierge about?

After the announcement of revamping Pokémon by April, the Netflix series comes as a surprise. Firstly, fans had lost hope in a Netflix animated series for Pokémon with the announcement of new characters. Secondly, Netflix has announced a stop motion animation for the beloved franchise on the occasion of Pokémon day.

In the decades of popularity that it has built, Pokémon has never gotten a stop motion adaptation of itself. Any producer that took on it mostly focused on the action packed aspect of the project and never thought of an intricate design like that of a stop motion animation.

However, Netflix has joined hands with its trusted stop motion production house, Dwarf Studios. Their collaboration has previously resulted in gems like My Dad the Bounty Hunter and Trash Truck. Therefore, fans can rest assured that the won’t find a fault in the animation.

The Vice President of the OTT Mogul in Asia, Minyoung Kim, said “Netflix is looking forward to delighting fans in Japan and around the world with ‘Pokémon Concierge,’ an entirely new visual and storytelling experience featuring ground-breaking stop-motion animation set in the Pokémon world in close collaboration with The Pokémon Company,” as reported by Variety.

Who is the main character of the Pokémon series?

Apart from impressing fan with the announcement of stop motion animation, the Netflix series will also bring back the loved Psyduck. The short teaser released by the streaming giant focused entirely on the Psyduck, who informs viewers that it is at a Pokémon Resort with Pokémon guests. However, the poster featured a red-headed girl by the name of Haru who will be interacting with several species of Pokémons present at the resort.
