What Anatomy of a Scandal is about?
Anatomy of a Scandal revolves around James Whitehouse and his legal battle that shatters his family life. Seemingly happily married to Sohpie, James is leading a comfortable like as a minister of Parliament. However, his perfect family comes crashing down when a political aide, Olivia, accuses him of rape. What follows is a legal battle and the repercussions it has on James’ family and career. The Netflix show aims to shed light on the elite in the United Kingdom and their scandals. We will also see how such scandals affect the women involved.
The cast of Anatomy of a Scandal
Sienna Miller, whom we last saw on The Loudest Voice, will play the role of Sophie Whitehouse, a doting wife to James Whitehouse. In the series, she will attempt to prove her husband’s innocence. Miller apparently is a huge fan of the book and her character, making her a perfect casting choice already.
In a conversation with Harper’s Bazaar UK, she says her character, “is multi-faceted and facing the consequences of the decisions she has made in her life of privilege, which are catching up with her. I loved the arc and journey she embarks on and was thrilled to be part of such a talented cast and crew.”
Joining her on the cast of Anatomy of a Scandal is Rupert Friend, who will play the role of James Whitehouse, a Parliament minister, embroiled in a sexual assault lawsuit. We know the actor from his work in Homeland. Furthermore, Naomi Scott, known for Aladdin live-action adaptation, will take up the role of Olivia, James’ co-worker.
Downtown Abbey fame Michelle Dockery is also part of the show. Dockery will be playing the role of Kate, a prosecutor determined to win and make James pay for his deeds. Other cast members include Josette Simon, Geoffrey Streatfeild, and Joshua McGuire.
With such stellar cast and creators teaming up, Anatomy of a Scandal certainly seems promising. Are you excited for the show’s release?
