The tradition of Netflix letting go of its fan-favorite franchises continues. Every month, the streaming giant removes some of its content, mostly due to licensing agreements. While it does make room for new projects, it leaves regular bingers of those departed shows and movies feeling disheartened. This month, Netflix bid farewell to many flicks, including Fifty Shades of Black, Uncut Gems, and the horror franchise Insidious. And speaking of horror franchises, there is more that the OTT giant is dropping from its library.

Another popular horror show is going to leave Netflix even before July rolls around.

There is something about horror films from the '70s and '80s that always stands out. And one gem that has been attracting a significant audience on Netflix is A Nightmare on Elm Street. However, this iconic horror franchise is about to leave its Netflix home on June 30th this year. The movies being removed are the first four sequels of the franchise: Freddy’s Revenge, Dream Warriors, The Dream Master, and The Dream Child. Fortunately, the entire franchise is not being stripped from the streaming service.

Netflix will still retain the 1994 meta-reinvention of the franchise, Wes Craven’s New Nightmare. Despite its iconic status, no new installments have been made for A Nightmare on Elm Street in the last 14 years. Amid the disappointing anticipation for a potential reboot of the franchise, Netflix pulling the existing movies down is just another letdown. Nonetheless, while the streamer is letting go of some of its shows, it is also bringing back others.

Netflix has maintained the reputation of acquiring the most bingeable shows in its library. Naturally, How I Met Your Mother became a pick for the streamer. The show was a hit on the platform alongside other popular sitcoms like Friends. However, in the year 2017, it left its streaming home after being a Hulu exclusive, the streaming platform that features most of Fox’s shows. However, Netflix is bringing back the iconic sitcom to its subscribers.

Earlier this month, Netflix shared a tweet stating, “Every season of How I Met Your Mother on Netflix in the US on June 3? I'll allow it”. This was made possible because of the upcoming debut of their combined Hulu and Disney+ platform next year. However, the show will be on Netflix only for 18 months before it leaves the streaming giant again.
