Amidst Superman Comparisons, ‘The Witcher’ Director Speaks on Henry Cavill’s Hated Move Away From Netflix Show
You know you have reached the pinnacle of the industry when your mere exit from a series continues to be the hot topic for months on end. The British enigma, Henry Cavill, is currently feeling the highs for the same. Not for just one, but two dramatic exits from the roles that, in a way, made him the star he is today. Ever since he took over the charismatic role of Geralt of Rivia in The Witcher, not the star but a privilege, it was the role to have Henry Cavill portray it. However, upon his unhappy exit, the audience never really made peace with any other face to play the same.
Same goes for the director of the show as well. Speaking exclusively to Screenrant, for the live action One Piece, Marc Jobst opened up on the dynamics of letting go of Henry Cavill from the demanding role.

He talked of the extraordinary results that Cavill’s sheer determination and hours of devotion to his work would fetch the team. Speaking of the iconic sword fight scene, the director revealed how the British A Lister knew just right, how to carry out the shots. He further explained how, for the star, there were no easy
“He does every single beat of his stunts, he won’t even allow a hand,” explained Jobst claimed. For instance, balancing the heavyweight blades without shredding an ounce of damage to anyone is not everyone’s cup of tea. And for Cavill, it was a piece of cake. But it came from hours of strenuous workout before and after shoots, given the athlete he is.
Hence, after three whole years of prolonged hard work and fruitful results, Jobst thought it was time he let him rest.
The director felt it was getting exhausted for him
Opening up to the outlet, the director who helmed the series for two seasons felt it was okay to let Cavill go. He said, “That’s draining on your number one“. Hence, after all the consecutive seasons, Jobst felt, “Okay, he’s brought the show into being, and if he feels like he’s done what he can, I trust him.” With that, this ends Henry Cavill’s incredible journey of vigor and vitality.

The final seasons have, however, shown no signs of bidding a goodbye to Geralt’s number one character. Without lining up in a death sequence plot or some disappearance, Cavill’s Geralt rather went off to win another battle towards the end. It is thus unclear what the masterminds behind the franchise are brewing to bid a farewell to Cavill while paving the way for its new Liam Hemsworth incarnation.
