The lawsuit against Taylor Swift for the ‘Shake It Off’ song is suspended
According to court documents filed on Monday, Sean Hall and Nathan Butler have called off their copyright lawsuit against Taylor Swift. The songwriters previously claimed that the Fearless singer has imitated their lyrics for the 2014 hit “Shake It Off.” Now the case has been dismissed by the federal judge in Los Angeles, and they will never be able to refile it.
It was revealed that the lawsuit was closed since both parties reached an agreement, but details are not disclosed. Moreover, there will be a trial scheduled to begin next year on January 17.

Although the lyrics are different in both songs since in “Shake It Off,” Swift sings “the players gonna play, play, play, play, play, and the haters gonna hate, hate, hate, hate, hate.” On the other hand “Playas Gon’ Play,” goes like “playas, they gonna play, and haters, they gonna hate.”

Even the Grammy winner told the court that she never heard this song before writing her song with Max Martin and Shellback. Meanwhile, if you don’t know, Shake It Off received three Grammy nominations and became a Diamond back in 2020. The song garnered huge attention racking up more than 10 million sales and streams, says the reports by RIAA.
