A month after CD Projekt unveiled plans to release a Go On Board game, The Witcher’s official games page announced a new board and card strategy-centric game. In a post on X (formerly Twitter), the page announced that the game would let fans “discover different endings to well-known stories.” The post also teased the question, “What if… we changed the setting completely?”
However, in the post, they also promised the social media following “an epic adventure inspired by Japanese Mythology.” The board game, titled The Witcher: Path of Destiny RONIN, also supposed to feature Japanese-inspired playing pieces. It is even said to feature beloved characters of the series like Geralt, Yennefer, Ciri, and more.
While the new game addition was definitely intriguing to fans, it came shortly after the series got a surprising new update.

While the world is still reeling from the loss of Henry Cavill from the series, the show must go on. In fact, earlier this month a writer from the show announced in a now-deleted post on X that the team was back to working. However, with the SAG-AFTRA strike still going on, filming for the 4th season of The Witcher had still not begun. While all the usual characters will be returning with Liam Hemsworth as Geralt of Rivia, viewers may get to see more of Freya Allen’s Ciri in the show.
The addition of the Rats also brings a darker arc to Ciri’s already grim storyline and fans will get to follow along with her journey. While the storyline might cause intrigue, the disappointment of season 3 is still fresh in everyone’s minds. There is no saying when the series will be back on track for filming, however, it may not be until 2024.
