As reported by People Magazine, the soon-to-be monarch of the United Kingdom took over the title of the new Colonel-in-chief of the Corps of Royal Engineers. The 28th of March 2023 marked the succession of the King to this ancestral post of the firm. The Palace announced that King Charles, at 74, has thus taken over the responsibilities of the new colonel ahead of his coronation.

For the declaration ceremony, the King met with the Chief royal engineer, Lieutenant General Sir Tyron Richard Urch at the age-old palace. Following the succession, King Charles’s first duty as the new colonel would be visiting the Brandenburg base of the royal Corps in his first official overseas visit to Germany.

King Charles has quite a significant job ahead with this one

As founded in the year 1716, The Corps of the Royal Engineers, the team commonly called The Sappers, provides critical support to the British Military. As the name suggests, the team looks after the technical support for the armed forces as and when required. The team is divided into several regiments that look after their own assigned duties in the service of ten nations.

Late Queen Elizabeth II, as the previous titleholder of the post, took several inspections of the troops to keep things in order. The previous Sovereign also celebrated the regiment’s 300th anniversary in the year 2016, remembering all its pivotal contributions to the safety and security of the Britishers.
