Looks like The Witcher is not the only series suffering from a lack of identity without Henry Cavill. The previous month when Henry Cavill, who played the beloved Geralt of Rivia, decided to quit the show after The Witcher Season 3, the reason for watching the show for many had ended. And hence ensued a war between the makers and the Cavill enthusiasts to prove that the series really needs him.

The prequel of The Witcher, Blood Origin, set 1,200 before Cavill’s Geralt was an opportunity that the series could work without Henry Cavill in it. However, the verdict does not look in favor of the series.
Can The Witcher: Blood Origin save the franchise after Henry Cavill exit?
It’s a tale known by heart to fans that Cavill, who had been a fan of both the book and the game, was the major, if not the only, factor that convinced people to watch the series. And it was his understanding of the character and sheer grit helmed by good enough writing and plot that made the series a Netflix favorite. However, The Witcher: Blood Origin is set long back and does not have Cavill’s character in it.
Therefore, the series should just be based on what it is without any bias. But given how many have already started expressing their disdain for the show, it did not happen.

However, judging the series without the context of The Witcher, it has far too many characters and almost none of them struck a chord with the audience. One good aspect of The Witcher: Blood Origin is that it appears to be more diverse and queer, which is something the fantasy series struggled with.

Created by Declan de Barra and Lauren Schmidt, the series lack Geralt in the shape of Henry Cavill. Despite the plot holes and mishaps, the British actor carried The Witcher on his back. And Blood Origin neither had a plot line with no holes nor an enigmatic character or performance such as Henry Cavill as Geralt to hide its flaws. The reviews piling up have deemed Blood Origin a series so lost in its own multiverse that you will have to look very hard to find a reason to stay.
