After WGA Greenlight, Fans Once Again Rally Hope for ‘Stranger Things’ Season 5 Release
A long and arduous wait finally did come to an end. Battling for their rightful interests, the Writers Guild of America (WGA) was on strike for nearly five months, crippling the production of movies and shows. The big ticket likes of Marvel and Netflix had come to an absolute standstill, which was only aggravated when SAG-AFTRA also joined the picket lines. However, now, mere days after a thaw, the WGA strikes dispersed, which left the room open for at least writing to go ahead on productions such as Deadpool 3 and Stranger Things.
Originally scheduled for May 2023, the production of season five of the hit Netflix thriller Stranger Things has overrun months. Although show creators, the Duffer Brothers, had already announced that a script was ready even before the end of season four, things stood halted. As such, with the recent breakthrough, fans have taken to Twitter for any updates on filming.

Unfortunately, despite fan theories and assumptions, the show’s filming cannot yet move ahead. Although the writers did drop some hints, there is nothing concrete yet. The studios are yet to break the ice with the actors’ union. A ready script is as good as none for the time being. In long lines of queries, fans still thronged to every news account far and wide for any news on Stranger Things.
Currently, the only fresh Stranger Things content available is Stranger Things: The First Shadow, a London stage play. Prequel to the current storyline, the play is set in Hawkins in 1959. On the Netflix side, things are still gloomy. Furthermore, long delays also risk jeopardizing the original planned trajectory. Meanwhile, as for filming updates, fans have to wait in anxious breaths.
Fans, however, still latch on for any ray of hope to come their way amidst the ongoing negotiations.
“Can’t wait” – Fans echo each other for Stranger Things Season 5

Yet, regardless of the delays, fans are hopeful that filming will resume soon. Many fans chimed in their positivity of a breakthrough coming while others also let it pass that it would be the last season to ever air.

Stranger Things Season 5 already has a lot of content to deliver. Along with sealing its characters’ fates, it also has fans hyped after producer Shawn Levy’s “cinematic storytelling” announcement. However, even in the best possible scenario, late 2024 or early 2025 look like the most plausible schedule for production. Alas, time shall tell.
