The coven of The Vampire Diaries has shifted its base from Netflix. They took along all 8 seasons since the five-year contract between CW Network and Netflix ended. But the beloved streaming platform recognizes our thirst for the fanged creatures, with a new replacement already queued up and ready to release.
The success of the vampire-based storyline and pop culture influence led to the production of this movie. And just like Vampire Diaries, this film is also an adaptation of a novel of the same name.

Netflix brings a new film for those who loved The Vampire Diaries
Need to heal the burns of The Vampire Diaries exit? Well, Netflix is ready to bring on Vampire Academy. The movie is an adaptation of Richelle Mead’s popular book series Vampire Academy. Mark Waters is the director of the movie and Daniel Waters did the screenplay. This, however, won’t be the film’s first release. The movie was picked up from the book, then made and released first in theatres in the year 2014.
But just like many book-adapted movies, this one did not gain popularity like the book did. It has received some negative reviews for not playing up to the original content. The box office collection was also low. Preger Entertainment’s plot revolves around two childhood gal-pals and their friendship that transcends through their separate classes.

While Rose (Zoey Deutch) is a Dhampir (a vampire-human hybrid), her bestie Princess Vasilisa (Lucy Fry) is a Moroi (mortal Vampire). Their journey takes place in a place that they tried to leave previously, St. Vladimir’s Academy, a special academy for the specially-abled. The academy trains its students to fight against the Strigoi, the evil vampires.

The movie is not the only adaptation of this book series out there. According to a source, Peacock announced that Julie Plec (The Vampire Diaries creator) will be making a new Vampire Academy series.
