After Speculations, Jenna Ortega’s ‘Wednesday’ Season 2 Runs Into Unforeseen Delays
In recent years, the horror genre has grown more popular with the younger generation. With gore and murder taking the top spot on all streaming platforms, it came as no surprise that Netflix’s Wednesday starring Jenna Ortega wound up becoming a fan favorite. While the second season of the series was confirmed last year, filming was pushed back because of the SAG-AFTA strike in Hollywood. Although the halt may have been lifted, it looks as though the horror series will be later than fans expected.
After hopes for a potential late 2024 release, it was recently revealed that the streaming show had fallen behind their expected schedule.

Since the Addams family show, Wednesday took over the work in 2022, fans have been waiting for an update on the next season. While filming was supposed to start around early 2024, it was revealed on social media that the show would be delayed as casting calls were finally happening in Ireland. Although the casting has begun, it might take a while before all the right extras are found.
While no release date was revealed, the casting calls gave away that filming would begin any later this month and go on until November 2024. With the show only returning to the streaming platform in 2025, it looks like Jenna Ortega’s schedule could have been free enough to keep up appearances in the iconic Scream franchise. However, the star chose to step down shortly after her co-star, Melissa Barrera, was fired for voicing her political opinions.
While it might have happened months ago, the co-star recently opened up about Ortega’s support through the difficult time.

Unlike her character on Wednesday, Jenna Ortega has proved to love being there for her fellow co-stars. Months after her firing from the Scream franchise, the 33-year-old shared insights into what went down with her and the 21-year-old. She stated that they had “chatted” and that the star was “supportive” of everything that had happened. The actress also added that the two of them were like real “sisters for life.”
While Ortega had not admitted to having followed in her on-screen older sister’s footsteps when she chose to leave the Scream franchise, the 33-year-old latest statements make it look like that could have been the final straw for the star.
