After Rejecting 'Stranger Things' Spinoff Ideas, Duffer Brothers Open to This One Special Project from The Show

The Duffer Brothers, creators of the long time Netflix-giant, winner of the Primetime Emmy Awards by the dozen; Stranger Things, took to the stage after being presented with the Variety Showrunner Award on the 5th of February. Discussing several would-have-been future endeavors that they had to  drop off, while keeping  a tunnel vision into the future. Set to close in November of 2025, news of the finale has left fans raising questions about what the future of the show holds. Whether they will be bereaved of their beloved characters or if they might accidentally spot them on our screens, somewhere down the lane of time.

 While the creators politely shook their heads and waived off any possibilities of a spin off or sequel to the five-season-long series, there might have been a few capitalizing ideas that even they could not seem to have resisted.

Duffer Brothers are not done with Stranger Things just yet

At the SCAD TVfest, in an interview covered by Variety, when asked about Netflix Games and if that might be something the creators might be looking into, Matt Duffer dove in saying “I mean I love games! That sounds like a good idea.”, hinting at the possibility of an additional, Netflix Game that might go into the works,  and possibly adding to the surfeit of merchandise that the franchise holds distribution of. Continuing to rave about the board game based on the series that has been pretty popular within the fanbase, the Duffer Brothers also express their love for the particular genre of games with childlike ardor. 

While the creators of the show seem to be pleasantly satisfied with the current panning out of things, fans seem desperate to grab onto anything that reminds them of their beloved show, be it merchandises or board games, they keep wanting more, even if the tap seems to have started merely trickling, showing up to X to discuss the teasing of the Netflix game, fans express how they are hoping the game would be something more than a simple replica of the show, something that depicts the complexity and layering of the series better, most possible in video games, in their concise opinions.

The Stranger Things team has been on a game-making adventure before, and in recent times, the event might have turned a little too scandalous to remain unbothered, resulting in a shockwave as two and two were put together, leaving the creators with their head in their hands. 

Stranger Things fans find a way into the Upside Down

The Stranger Things Monopoly game revealed in July of 2022 had a rocky upcoming signed to its name. Upon realizing that the renowned distributor of the world-popular and loved Monopoly games, had managed to leak major plot points of the 4th season of the show, that was yet to be completely released, following the two volume drop that Season 5 will also releasing. And granted the size of the retail web of the show, the situation had proved a little too sticky to handle.

As creators, Matt and Ross Duffer prepare themselves to close and wind up on their close-to-ten year old project, they hope fans remain to bear witness to the new stories and newer, lovable character that they will share with them in the future, not only hinting, but completely denying any continuations to the horror series that we have been hearing about to no end, since its kickstart way back in 2016.
