After Meghan Markle, Kate Middleton to Break a Major Royal Tradition at King Charles’ Coronation
When it comes to being a rule breaker in the royal family, the arrow mostly points toward Meghan Markle. Ever since the former actress stepped into the royal family, breaking royal protocol or tradition seemed to have become a norm with how the tabloids reported it. And in contrast were the highlights about Kate Middleton, who is notorious for being the perfect royal princess. However, it seems that the image may be shattering during the most crucial time, as King Charles’ coronation is just around the corner.
As Meghan Markle resigned as a senior working royal in 2020, the position of the royal rule breaker was left vacant. And by the looks of it, Kate Middleton might be filling up for her by breaking a major tradition at the upcoming coronation of King Charles.

The Princess of Wales, ever since her marriage to Prince William, has made sure to abide by the royal rules and traditions, occasionally breaking a few small rules here and there when needed. However, as King Charles’ coronation approaches, it appears that the 41-year-old will be ditching the tiara. And if the rumors are true, then Middleton is all set to become the new royal rule breaker after Meghan Markle. To adorn one’s head with a tiara on the Coronation is a decades-long tradition.
“Tiaras were worn by nearly every royal lady at the Queen’s coronation in 1953,” said Court Jeweler, Lauren Kiehna, as reported by People. Given the fact that Queen Elizabeth II’s coronation dates back many years, it is understandable that the same trends, especially in terms of coronation looks, cannot carry over to King Charles’ coronation in 2023.

It was rumored that her crown will have the Koh-i-Noor, one of the largest diamonds in the world. However, the truth was far from it. The Queen will be reusing Queen Mary’s Crown from King George V’s coronation, citing sustainability and efficiency as the reason. This once again marks the first in a long time that a crown will be reused during the Coronation.
