After Kanye West and Donald Trump, Elon Musk’s Twitter Brings Back Over 60K Banned Accounts
Elon Musk is changing the face of Twitter. The entrepreneur, who is known to have a good rapport with Kanye West and Donald Trump, made news for purchasing the social media site and then reinstating their banned accounts. Both Trump and West got their accounts banned for breaking Twitter’s guidelines before. But now that Musk completed the purchase, he plans to add his touch to the site, despite the criticism.

The businessman wanted a platform that promoted free speech without any censorship on it. In attempts to do that, a ‘big bang’ has taken place internally at the Twitter office, as they decided to bring bank banned accounts. Here is how it happened.

A few days ago Musk took a poll about a change he wanted to bring to Twitter. He asked, “Should Twitter offer a general amnesty to suspended accounts, provided that they have not broken the law or engaged in egregious spam?” The response to it was 72.4% Yes while 27.6% said no, with over 31 lakh people responding to the pool. Upon looking at the results, Musk responded, “The people have spoken. Amnesty begins next week. Vox Populi, Vox Dei,” thus making the decision to reinstate accounts.

This step comes as Musk’s need for bringing an online revolution for free speech. He believes that people should be allowed to practise free speech as long as it does not break any law. However, not all of his new rules have been working we. For example, charging a monthly fee for verified is said to have degraded the value of the verified mark.

While he welcomes Ye back to Twitter, the singer has not stopped his barrage of controversial tweets, which has attracted criticism for the platform as well. Twitter is still in the process of new changes, and it will be seen what more rules will be brought.
