While Netflix has long established itself as the seller of stories, brewing in the cinemas or fetched right out of the archives, the streaming giant is also known for constantly trying to push the boundaries. From making its community remains multi-cultural with the introduction of several originals to going all out with its gaming, the streamer believes in innovation. However, the epitome of it all, the Netflix interactive specials, may have done the streamer more harm than good.

What started as Netflix's effort to reign over uncharted territory is now bidding goodbye before time as the streamer moves on to what it terms as better things.

Back in 2017, Netflix only began testing the waters with its interactive specials with a Puss in Book: Trapped in an Epic Tale being followed by Black Mirror: Bandersnatch. Overtime, the streamer used its interactive specials to increase engagement on various shows. However, it seems the interactive specials were a tad bit heavy for Netflix's tech group as The Verge reported that Netflix is removing its interactive specials almost entirely except for four which are: Black Mirror: Bandersnatch, Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt: Kimmy vs. the Reverend, Ranveer vs Wild with Bear Grylls, and You vs. Wild.

The announcement comes not long after Netflix also shut down its Team Blue which was focusing on the next cutting-edge Netflix original game design AAA. The slashing of the interactive specials alongside the shutdown of its gaming studio is an indicator that the streamer is trying to shift the focus of its technical genius onto other things.

This next big thing for the streamer may not be all that new, as Netflix has been hinting at it for the longest time.

Netflix has come, and it has conquered various arenas, although with many trials and errors. However, one field that the streamer has had its eye on for the longest time is that of gaming. The OTT Mogul surprised fans with the quality of the games that it provided and was further putting efforts for them to be accessible to various devices.

While the streamer may have shut down its gaming studio, it is yet to wrap up its grand gaming plan. Even Mike Verdu and various Netflix representatives have remained firm about the streamer's decision to move forward in the gaming arena. With so many loyal subscribers already locked, it is unlikely that the gaming feature on Netflix would go unused.
