After receiving mass media applause for “burning” Andrew Tate on Twitter, Greta Thunberg talks about how the environment is burning in Netflix’s latest docuseries, Live to Lead. The 19-year-old Swedish activist has been the subject of every headline the past few days after her squash with British influencer Andrew Tate. And contrary to popular belief, Thunberg’s anger towards Andrew Tate did not have anything to do with global warming or climate change but something along the lines of him being a human pollutant.

The internet loved the activist’s response and ironically applauded her for “burning” the influencer. However, Thunberg came back to her roots as an activist in no time with Netflix dropping her episode of Live to Lead on the 31st of December. But just like how we are destroying 49 football fields worth of forests every minute, it did not take any longer for Thunberg to go from being the Internet’s “Burn Queen” to being the victim of the very phenomenon.

Greta Thunberg is now at the receiving end of the Internet’s wrath

In 2018, the talented duo of Geoff Blackwell and Ruth Hobday took on a project about Nelson Mandela. And the Netflix documentary series Live to Lead featuring activist Greta Thunberg alongside other public figures such as Ruth Bader Ginsburg, Bryan Stevenson, Jacinda Ardern, Siya Kolisi, Gloria Steinem, and Albie Sachs is a result of it. Each of these celebrated entities has an episode of their own where they talk about issues they consider important. And for Greta Thunberg, it was climate damage.

The Swedish activist said, “We must change almost everything in our current societies” as scenes of natural calamities play out. In sync with her viral 2019 speech where she appeared visibly frustrated at the world leaders, Thunberg said, “I don’t want you to be hopeful. I want you to panic.”

Unfortunately for the activist, she did not receive either of those from the Internet. What came instead is a massive backlash by the same audience that made her the first woman in history to have multiple tweets with over three million likes. Unsurprisingly, both included her ruthlessly shutting down Andrew Tate.

After the release of the Netflix documentary, the audience has taken to “burning” Greta Thunberg with memes and claims of the activist having no qualifications to talk about environmental change. But unless the “burning” is leading to carbon emissions, we highly doubt it is going to bother Greta Thunberg.
