Hold your Netflix cancellation plan because the streamer is bringing a bunch of new content to the platform for the month of July. Amidst a bunch of thrillers and drama, like Will Smith’s I Am Legend and Matt Damon’s Talented Mr. Ripley, the streamer is also offering you a light-hearted comedy in the form of Adam Sandler’s Big Daddy. The movie is the highest-grossing film of the Hustle star’s career until Hotel Transylvania 2 in 2015. The 1999 movie also stars Joey Lauren Adams, Job Stewart, Dylan and Cole Sprouse, and Rob Schneider besides Adam Sandler. 

What is the plot of the 1999 Adam Sandler movie? 

Released in 1999, Big Daddy follows a lazy law school graduate, Sonny Koufax (Adam Sandler). He is 32 years old, has a law degree, and lives in a nice apartment in Manhattan. However, he is too lazy to find a job. He is living off the money he got when he won a case a year ago. His girlfriend dumps him for this very reason, but he decides to adopt a five-year-old to impress his girlfriend. He ends up becoming the unlikely foster father and also ends up learning a thing or two about responsibilities.

Sandler’s wife Jackie Sandler appears as the waitress that gives the kid a root beer in the flic. Since then she has cameoed in every other Sandler movie. The two met on this very set and got married in 2003. Sandler’s best friend, Rob Schneider plays the delivery guy in the movie. Moreover, Sandler based the Scuba Steve action figure on his childhood toy Diver Dan. Interestingly, both Jim Carrey and Ben Stiller were considered for Sandler’s role. During the filming, Cole and Dylan lost their baby teeth and were replaced. Additionally, Brie Larson provided voiceovers for the movie’s ADR Loop Group. Chris Farley was originally set to appear in the film, but his unfortunate demise detailed the plans.
